Here’s a rarity: a dance song with true emotion. Robyn’s single from her latest in 3 EP’s coming out this year is a beautifully, bittersweet anthem for keeping someone at arm’s length. “Hang With Me” continues Robyn’s thumbing her nose at the establishment of the music industry. Since striking out on her own, she has done nothing but songs that seem to be slightly too outside of airplay norm, yet of such high quality to make you wonder why she doesn’t get more airplay outside the clubs. Even the arrangement of this song is against formula with its crescendo-style verse/bridge/chorus flow. Verse: nice. Bridge: up the ante. Chorus: emotional high. In other words, it’s a great pop song.
