I cannot thank Dr. Demento enough for introducing me to the combination of the two entertainment loves in my life: music and comedy. He also introduced me to mathematician, teacher, musical satirist Tom Lehrer. His second album — the wonderfully entitled An Evening Wasted With Tom Lehrer — was released in 1959 and includes such classics as “The Elements” and “Poisoning Pigeons In The Park,” but the song that to this day still cracks me up is “Masochism Tango.” The song’s comedy builds like no other with each verse raising the funny bar higher. I still burst out laughing each time he he makes some heart joke. It’s the descripters that make it so humorous. Give it a listen. You’ll see.
